
Millions of first aiders and health care related fields are at risk to exposure to bloodborne & airborne pathogens, such as the HIV virus, hepatitis B virus and tuberculosis. This course is designed to meet the current Occupational Safety and Health requirements and to teach students how to prepare for potential occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
The course is designed for students and employees who have potential for occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials and includes information on tuberculosis and other airborne pathogens.
Course Content / Modules Covered
A wide range of subjects is covered including: –
● What is Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
● Universal Precautions.
● HIV/ AIDS, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis.
● Emergency Response.
● Blood Spill KIts.
● Removal of Gloves.
Valid Level 1 First Aid Certificate – submit proof with registration.

- 2 hours in length or can be integrated into any of our existing courses.

Certification
- Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with an Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogen certificate from either the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) or Emergency Safety & Care Institute (ECSI) depending on the course taken.
- This qualification is valid for 2 years which can be renewed by attending re-qualification course.
